STAFF INTERVIEW / Corporate Planning & General Affairs
Saori Yamaguchi

What does your everyday work involve?
I support the company behind the scenes through labor administration, HR and accounting. I also help in the shops and at events, so my work gives me opportunities to be on the shop floor as well as at a desk. The tasks vary, but they all contribute to supporting our shops and colleagues.
What matters most when supporting the shops and staff?
Communication matters most to me. Even within the same company, people see things differently depending on their responsibilities and position. That is why I believe in talking first, and listening to the other person. Working in a supporting role makes those everyday exchanges especially important.
When does your work make you feel happiest?
When I can be useful to others. Much of my work is not directly visible to customers in the way shop-floor service is. But knowing that it helps the shops and staff makes me happy. Whatever tasks I am involved in, I want to keep that wish to help others at the heart of my work.
How would you describe SALON MODE?
I see it as a company that values its traditions while taking on new challenges. It carries forward what has mattered over the years, without stopping there, and stays open to new possibilities. Valuing both what has been built and what is still to come feels very much like SALON MODE to me.
What would you like to say to someone joining the team?
Please feel free to come and talk to me if anything is on your mind. In a new workplace, there will be things you do not understand, or times when you are unsure who to ask. I would be happy if you felt comfortable approaching me. Whether it is a question about a task or a concern about working here, let's start by talking and think it through together.
